MFI Connect

Harnessing Student Potential In Microfinance

As some of you may know, four members of The Microfinance Forum team are currently in Cartagena, Colombia, working to develop contacts with MFIs around the world. These connections will be the basis for our MFI membership moving forward and we are really psyched about how well received we've been. Along with the positive momentum we are building behind The Forum, we have gotten some really solid feedback from MFIs about what they are looking for from university students. They are really stoked to see young people getting involved because we currently represent four of the nine college students attending. We'll get back to you soon with another update on the status of The Forum.

can you remind us which (9) colleges you link together
Well, the four of us from The Forum go to Claremont Mckenna, Dartmouth, and St. Andrews. Then there were a few students from Clark, George Washington, and a Pacific University.

Whats exciting is that one of the conference organizers told us that next year he wants us to recruit a few hundred college students to go to a specifically student-oriented microfinance conference in Africa!

More info about this to come...
I'm glad to hear the conference was a real success!
